Nature has been a life force and a source of ideas for Kaija. Sailing on the west coast and skiing in the mountains keeps her in touch with the natural elements. Nature has been dear to her since childhood and is a well of inspiration and creativity for her work. In recent years she has taken her traditional tapestry weaving to the next level using the computer facilitated jacquard hand weaving technique. The marriage of the image and the structure challenges her creativity. With a long-standing background in tapestry, she continues making works with a strong feel of the hand.
